About the Role

Imagine this – At Destinus, our UAVs don't just fly — they push the limits of what unmanned aerospace can do. Behind every successful mission is a foundation of rigorous testing. We are looking for a hands-on Electronic Test Engineer to join our Testing Team, with a specific focus on sensor integration, DAQ systems, electrical measurements on PCBs, and functional testing of Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs) and electric motors. This is a lab-centered role where your work directly impacts the reliability and performance of flight-critical systems.

At Destinus we are revolutionizing the defense industry with cutting-edge Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Our innovative technologies are designed to meet the unique demands of modern defense operations, delivering unparalleled speed, precision, and cost effectiveness. Destinus partners with government agencies and defense organizations worldwide to provide advanced solutions for mission-critical operations, enabling a new era of efficiency and technological superiority. Join us in shaping the future of defense with groundbreaking aerospace innovations.

What You’ll Do

  1. Senior Integration & DAQ
  • Integrate sensors (current, voltage, temperature, vibration, etc.) into DAQ systems for real-time monitoring of PCB and power electronics behavior.
  • Select, calibrate, and validate sensors appropriate to the measurement needs
    (electrical, thermal, mechanical).
  • Design and wire measurement setups ensure signal integrity, proper grounding,
    and noise rejection.
  • Build and maintain data acquisition pipelines from sensor to logged dataset, enabling repeatable test conditions
  1. PCB Testing & Failure Analysis

  • Perform electrical measurements on PCBs including voltage rails, current
consumption, signal integrity, and thermal profiles.
  • Use lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, logic analyzers) to characterize board behavior under operating conditions.
  • Support root cause analysis of electronic failures by correlating measurement data with design documentation.
  • Develop test fixtures and breakout setups to access and measure PCB test points reliably.
  • Work closely with R&D engineers to provide measurement data that improves understanding of failure modes
  1. ESC & Electric Motor Testing

  • Design and execute test procedures for Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs), including timing calibration, throttle response, current limiting, and thermal behavior.
  • Set up and operate motor dynamometer or equivalent test benches to characterize
    electric motors under load.
  • Measure and analyze electrical parameters (back-EMF, phase currents, powerfactor, efficiency) across operating conditions.
  • Identify anomalies in ESC-motor interaction (e.g., demagnetization, commutation issues, resonance) using measurement data.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to iterate on ESC firmware and motor selection based on test results
  1. General Test Engineering
  • Write Python scripts to automate data acquisition, instrument control, and test sequencing.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including test procedures, measurement reports, and failure logs.
  • Contribute to the design of test rig hardware and help select components for measurement setups.
  • Support the Production team with go/no-go electrical tests for manufactured PCBs and drive assemblies.

What You’ll Need

  • 3–6 years of experience in electronics testing, measurement engineering, or a
    related hands-on role.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical measurement techniques: signal acquisition, grounding, shielding, and noise reduction.
  • Experience integrating sensors into DAQ systems (e.g., NI DAQ, Keysight, or
    equivalent platforms).
  • Hands-on experience testing PCBs: power rails, digital/analog signals, thermal mapping.
  • Familiarity with ESC operation principles and/or electric motor characterization
    (BLDC, PMSM).
  • Proficiency with lab instrumentation: oscilloscopes, bench power supplies, electronic loads, LCR meters.
  • Programming skills in Python for test automation and data processing.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Strong analytical mindset — comfortable correlating measurement data with failure hypotheses

Nice to have

  • Experience with motor dynamometer test benches or power analyzer tools (e.g., Yokogawa WT series).
  • Knowledge of BLDC / PMSM motor control theory and ESC firmware (e.g., BLHeli, VESC).
  • Background in aerospace, automotive, or industrial electronics testing.
  • PCB design skills (KiCad, Altium) for creating breakout boards or test fixtures.
  • Experience with 3D printing for prototyping fixtures and enclosures.
  • Familiarity with CAN bus, SPI, I2C, UART for embedded system interfacing

Who You Are

You are a measurement-focused engineer who is most comfortable with a probe in one hand and a Python script in the other. You think carefully about what you're measuring and why, understanding that a bad sensor setup leads to misleading data, and misleading data leads to bad decisions in high-stakes hardware. You approach failure analysis methodically, combining measurement intuition with systematic investigation. You communicate clearly with both hardware and software engineers, and you take pride in building test infrastructure that the whole team can trust.
