Last Energy (LE) seeks a talented and motivated Finance Associate to support the finance team in various aspects of financial analysis and modeling the development of the next generation of distributed small nuclear power plants internationally. The Finance Associate will play a crucial role in evaluating potential investment opportunities, performing due diligence on potential acquisitions and interacting with various stakeholders on a day to day basis to accomplish LE's objectives. This role will also be responsible for developing analysts, managing financial models, conducting market research, and creating presentations for senior management.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain financial models to support the capital raising and corporate budgeting processes
- Develop financial models to evaluate project developments of Last Energy's PWR-20 and prepare presentations to communicate the analysis
- Lead analysis of M&A targets across the value chain and internationally to support LE's goals
- Execute comprehensive due diligence on potential acquisitions, encompassing financial modeling and in-depth analysis
- Conduct extensive market research in the electricity and heat markets, ensuring a thorough understanding of industry trends and the latest developments
- Lead the preparation of financial reports, presentations, and documentation required for internal and external stakeholders
- Be point of contact for outside stakeholders including land owners, offtakers, EPCs and investors
- Contribute to special projects, including preparation of investor/3rd party presentations and performance of ad-hoc financial analysis for various stakeholders
- Conduct analysis in support of special projects with regards to development, licensing and fundraising
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or another quantitative field
- 2-3+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or project finance in the power/energy space
- Strong financial modeling skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Critical thinker, with the ability to creatively solve problems, deal with ambiguity, and work in a fast-paced, changing environment
