About Klarity
Klarity (YC S18) is building multimodal AI agents that replace how Fortune 500s understand and transform their operations.
Big companies pay consultants millions to document processes and analyze operations. It takes months and goes stale immediately. We built multimodal AI agents that do it continuously. OpenAI, Google, DoorDash, ServiceNow and many others are using Klarity to replace that entire process.
We shipped GPT-4 document chat within 12 hours of OpenAI's launch. We believe speed and quality happen together when you're thoughtful about how you build.
The Role
We are looking for an AI Design Engineer who sits at the intersection of product design and frontend engineering. You are a designer first, but with the technical skills and AI tools to bring your designs to life in production code. You will be responsible for defining and building the "look and feel" of AI-native workflows, ensuring that our complex enterprise tools feel as intuitive as the best consumer apps. We care about your design portfolio, systems thinking, and track record of shipping—not your degree. You should have demonstrated technical ability through AI-assisted prototyping, code contributions, or willingness to learn production development.
Who You Are
Designer first, engineer by growth - You're a product designer with a strong visual and interaction design foundation. You've designed complex software products and understand information architecture, user flows, and design systems. You've learned to code (or are learning) because you want to implement your designs without waiting for an engineering backlog.
Expert in design tools and systems thinking - Figma, design systems, component libraries, and interaction patterns are second nature. You think in systems—understanding how individual components combine to create cohesive experiences. You've designed and maintained design systems that scale across products.
AI-native designer who builds in code - You use AI coding assistants like Cursor, Claude Code, v0.dev, and Replit to translate concepts into working prototypes rapidly. You move from idea to high-fidelity, close to production-grade code that demonstrates exactly what the experience should be. You obsess over details—micro-interactions, transitions, spacing, color, and accessibility.
Shipped AI-native features to production - You understand the unique challenges of building with LLMs: designing for non-determinism, creating delightful experiences around unpredictable outputs, and innovating on UX patterns that make cutting-edge AI feel intuitive.
Drive outcomes with user-centered thinking - You ground your design decisions in user research and real feedback. You own the end-to-end experience, from initial sketches to final implementation. You advocate for users while balancing business constraints and technical feasibility.
Bring energy that elevates others - You see impossible UX challenges as opportunities to innovate. Your enthusiasm for design craft is contagious. You elevate the design bar for the entire team and push everyone to care more about the details.
What You'll Do
Own the primary user-facing features - Define the visual language, interaction patterns, and user flows for core product features, then ship them to production. You own the experience from concept to launch.
Build and evolve the design system - Design reusable component libraries that work both in Figma and in code. Establish patterns for layouts, interactions, and visual hierarchy that the team can leverage. Ensure consistency across the platform while maintaining flexibility for innovation.
Bridge AI capabilities with intuitive experiences - Partner with product and engineers to understand what AI can do, then design interfaces that make complex capabilities feel simple. You translate technical possibilities into delightful user experiences.
