About NewLimit

NewLimit is a biotechnology company working to radically extend human healthspan. We're developing medicines to treat age-related diseases by reprogramming the epigenome, a new therapeutic mechanism to restore regenerative potential in aged and diseased cells. We leverage functional genomics, pooled perturbation screening, and machine learning models to unravel the biology of epigenetic aging and disease using experiments of unprecedented scale.

Position

We're hiring our first dedicated IT lead to own the systems, infrastructure, and security that keep NewLimit running as we grow from to more than 100 people over the next two years. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with broad ownership: you’ll set technical direction, decide what we build, buy, automate, or outsource, and jump in yourself when that’s the fastest path. An MSP handles routine helpdesk, provisioning, and onboarding/offboarding, so you can focus on the most critical strategic work that requires judgment.

Your scope will span identity and access, endpoints, office and lab infrastructure, security, SaaS systems, and a shared stake in cloud and data infrastructure. You’ll help us scale these systems as we enter first-in-human studies and expand clinical, manufacturing, and sponsor-facing operations—raising the bar on security, reliability, data integrity, and audit readiness without burying a fast-moving biotech in process.

We care more about slope than intercept. You’ve owned real systems, learn unfamiliar domains quickly, and would rather automate a recurring problem than file another ticket. You’ll sit within Computational Sciences alongside computational biologists and software and ML engineers who will help with hard problems and expect the same from you.

What you’ll do

  • Own identity, access, and endpoint standards across Google Workspace, AWS, GitHub, and our macOS/Windows fleet: least privilege, phishing-resistant MFA, SSO, device compliance, and lifecycle automation.
  • Lead our MSP and technical vendor relationships day to day: scope, SLAs, escalations, renewals, and performance. Help decide what we build, buy, outsource, or bring in-house.
  • Run security operations at our scale, including monitoring, incident response, tabletop exercises, and post-incident reviews, working with MDR/IR partners where they add leverage.
  • Own network and office/lab infrastructure (connectivity, backups, continuity), and partner with the team on cloud and data infrastructure: AWS account structure and security and integrations between systems (lab instruments, HRIS, finance, ELN/LIMS).
  • Help build the tooling and policies that make all of this scale: onboarding and access-review automation, security reporting, LLM/agent governance, data classification, software approval, and acceptable-use standards.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in IT, infrastructure, or security, including experience as a primary or sole IT/security owner at a small company and managing MSPs or technical vendors.
  • Working fluency across identity, MDM, networking, AWS fundamentals, Google Workspace or M365 administration, backups, and SaaS administration.
  • You script well enough to automate your own work, move data between systems, and comfortably read someone else’s code.
  • Strong practical security judgment: you know how to right-size controls for company stage and how expectations change as sponsors, auditors, and regulated workflows enter the picture.
  • You already use LLMs and agents to work more effectively, understand how to use them safely, and communicate clearly with scientists, executives, vendors, and auditors.

Nice to haves

  • Exposure to GxP, clinical, or other regulated environments, or SOC 2 / ISO 27001 readiness.
  • Familiarity with regulated-data expectations (e.g., audit trails, ALCOA+).
  • Data engineering experience: pipelines, ETL/ELT, warehouse fundamentals.
  • Experience supporting lab environments where instruments, data movement, and uptime matter.

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Industry-leading paid time off (PTO), 20 days/year for all employees plus holidays
  • Paid parental leave
  • Meals and snacks on-site

Salary Range: $160,000 to $220,000. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. NewLimit offers a competitive benefits package, which includes a 401k, healthcare coverage, and 20 days of PTO.
