About Pepr AI
We are building the AI Operator for growth to replace the traditional ad agency with autonomous code. We apply the quant rigor of high-frequency trading to optimize ad spend, delivering a massive 20-50% upside in efficiency for our partners.
We are already managing critical spend for global category leaders like Cider and Cupshe with a clear path to managing billions of dollars in autonomous volume. We are backed by Quiet Capital and are looking for early engineers to join us in San Francisco.
The Role
We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to serve as the technical bridge between our autonomous engine and the complex reality of our clients' businesses. This role acts as a hybrid between Software Engineering and Applied Data Science.
You are the translator who converts client truth into system truth. Our core AI is a powerful, generalized decision engine but it relies on a perfect understanding of unique business goals, messy data warehouses and specific inventory logic to function.
You will write production code to integrate and standardize disparate financial signals while simultaneously using your statistical toolkit to prove value. You will own the relationship with senior leadership, leading weekly syncs with CFOs and Heads of Growth to explain performance, propose new experiments and translate those findings into strategic expansions. You will be the first to spot the gaps between our product and the market, feeding critical insights back to the core team to shape our roadmap.
What You'll Do
Engineer the Integration: You will write the code that connects our system to the client's truth. You will navigate complex data warehouses like Snowflake or Redshift to build robust pipelines for first-party signals, inventory logic and margin data.
Own the Client Sync: You are the sole point of contact. You will lead weekly syncs with Heads of Growth and CFOs where you will explain our performance, propose new experiments and pre-emptively address concerns before they become issues.
Drive Scientific Strategy: You will not just report numbers; you will interpret them. You will propose causal experiments, analyze the results using rigorous statistics and translate those technical findings into clear business recommendations.
Standardize the Platform: You will identify patterns across client deployments and refactor custom shims into standardized platform features. You will ensure that a problem solved for one client is solved for every client.
Who You Are
A Senior Technologist: You have 6+ years of experience in a technical role. You are comfortable writing production-grade Python and SQL and you understand how data pipelines work at scale.
Customer Obsessed: You deeply understand the client's anxiety and goals. You are proactive in your communication and you know how to manage expectations to build long-term trust.
Statistically Fluent: You understand the difference between correlation and causation. You can design a valid A/B test and explain confidence intervals to a non-technical audience.
A Strategic Influencer: You know how to align stakeholders. You know when to solve a problem yourself and when to pull in the founders or the ML team to unblock a complex technical challenge.
Bonus Points
FDE Experience: You have worked in a Forward Deployed Engineering role at a company like Palantir or a similar engineering-led B2B firm.
Technical Data Science Background: You have a background in data science or econometrics but have pivoted to software engineering.
Business-Focused ML: You have worked as a Machine Learning Engineer with a heavy focus on business logic and product outcomes rather than pure research.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $180,000 – $270,000
Equity: Significant equity package
Food: Daily lunch and (optional) dinner
Relocation: Relocation support for candidates moving to the Bay Area
