About the Role

As a Commercial Account Manager, you'll be a trusted advisor to a portfolio of strategic, high-value customers, helping them realize the full potential of our platform to meet their needs. You will develop a deep understanding of each account's core objectives and work closely with Technical Account Managers (TAMs) to tailor solutions that drive measurable outcomes.

This role blends customer success with proactive account management — you will balance relationship-building, technical insight, and commercial acumen to deliver retention, growth, and long-term value. You will analyze account health and usage trends to identify opportunities for improvement or expansion, presenting solutions that align with customer objectives and business impact.

You’ll also drive key commercial motions, including contract renewals, upsells, forecasting, and negotiations. Success in this role requires strong customer-facing skills, a consultative approach, and a passion for building trusted partnerships that directly impact revenue, retention, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key customer stakeholders, including decision makers and critical users within each account, transforming them into Spruce champions.
  • Develop long-term strategies for their assigned book of business through product adoption and growth.
  • Partner closely with Technical Account Managers (TAMs) and Technical Support Engineers (TSEs) to tailor technical solutions and resolve customer challenges.
  • Monitor account health, usage trends, engagement metrics, and billing trends to identify risks and opportunities for growth.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews, collect feedback, and act as the voice of the customer internally for product and marketing improvements.
  • Inform customers about relevant features, new releases, and upcoming product updates.
  • Secure annual commitments from customers, drive renewals, and execute upsell strategies that align with customer goals and drive expansion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing, commercial role (e.g. Commercial Account Manager, Sales Executive, Customer Success Manager, etc.), engaging in commercial conversations with prospects or customers.
  • Proficient understanding of B2B SaaS, with experience supporting technical products or platforms (extra credit for healthcare-related and/or telecommunications field experience).
  • Track record of driving commercial strategies— able to identify expansion opportunities, negotiate pricing, and structure deals in the service of business performance, while being customer-focused.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to interpret customer data and technical configurations, ensuring solutions and strategic advice are grounded in measurable insights.
  • Exceptional organization, communication, and presentation skills, with comfort engaging executives and operational stakeholders, and the ability to clearly and thoughtfully explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Growth-oriented mindset that thrives in a fast-moving company and is open to learning new things and iterating rapidly.
  • Passionate about making a real difference in healthcare in America, with a high degree of empathy and a strong desire to help others.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Compensation: $120-140k OTE annually, with benefits

Work Environment and Benefits:
