About Tensec
Founded in 2023, Tensec is a global fintech that enables small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to enter global trade and thrive by giving them access to global transaction banking solutions that are user-friendly, efficient, and secure.
Tensec founders have driven startups from foundation to exit, built decacorns, and led global teams at companies such as PayPal, Credit Karma, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. We’re putting together a world-class team to disrupt the $50 trillion cross-border b2b financial services industry by providing SMBs the financial strength to participate and win in the global economy.
We believe that successful companies and teams are directly correlated to a company's cultural DNA. At Tensec, we make a deliberate effort to create values and foster a culture able to unleash both human and organizational potential. We strongly believe that the best business results derive from teams that have a strong identification with a mission, push themselves to the edge, and love what they do.
The Tensec team is diverse and global, with members in San Francisco, New York, Miami, Monterrey, and Sao Paulo. We are funded by top venture capital firms such as Quiet Capital, Costanoa Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, Clocktower, WillowTree, and prolific angels such as Jason Pate (Chief Strategy Officer, Plaid), Bora Chung (ex-Chief Experience Officer, Bill.com and Board Member, Remitly).
How We Work
We move fast, debrief quickly, and expect you to own your output. This is a dynamic company, we value speed and decisiveness over process. You'll have the context you need to make good decisions, and the autonomy to make them.
About the Role
You'll own a portfolio of B2B partners: trading companies, freight forwarders, shelter operators, and logistics firms moving significant cross-border volume between Mexico and the rest of the world, end to end, from onboarding through first transaction to growth. One day you're walking a CFO through how an FX spread eats into their freight margin; the next you're packaging a pattern you're seeing across five accounts into structured input for the product team.
This isn't a relationship-management role that logs calls into a CRM. You'll be expected to understand the trade and freight business behind each account, not just manage the relationship, and to translate what partners need into commercial outcomes and product improvements, owning your book end to end.
What You'll Do
Build executive-level relationships with CFOs, treasury managers, and commercial leads at trading houses, freight forwarders, and shelter companies
Own a book of active agency and originator accounts and drive TPV (Transaction Payment Volume) growth across them
Identify and develop upsell opportunities across corridors and product lines as Tensec's platform expands
Understand each partner's payment, FX, and trade/freight operating structure in depth, and proactively show them where Tensec creates value (IOF elimination, FX spread capture, mass payment efficiency)
Translate client needs into product input: package recurring friction points, gaps, and feature requests into structured feedback for the product team
Lead discovery conversations and proposals, bringing product and ops into the conversation when complexity requires it, and deliver commercial proposals and ROI analyses that speak the language of a treasurer
Stay current on regulatory developments (CNBV/SAT), FX market dynamics, and the global trade and freight landscape affecting your corridor
Feed structured insights from the field back to your GM, product, and compliance teams — what clients are asking for, what objections are coming up, where competitors are winning
Maintain accurate CRM records and own your pipeline forecast
Coordinate internally with compliance, treasury, and ops to resolve partner issues quickly and without escalation
-
Contribute to playbooks and partner onboarding documentation as Tensec systematizes its commercial motion
What We Are Looking For
3–5 years in B2B account management, FX brokerage, trade finance, international payments, or commercial banking
Working knowledge of the global trade and freight industry: how importers, exporters, freight forwarders, and logistics companies move goods and money across borders
Demonstrated understanding of cross-border transaction mechanics, you know where the friction and the margin live
Strong product sense: the ability to identify a client's underlying need, not just their request, and translate it into something the product and ops teams can act on
Proven ability to manage a complex B2B book: multiple stakeholders, longer cycles, genuine relationship depth
Native Spanish, with professional fluency in English (written and spoken)
Based in or willing to relocate to Monterrey; regional travel required (~20–30%)
Background on an FX desk, at a currency broker, or in treasury operations is a strong plus
Existing network in the trading, logistics, or manufacturing sectors in Mexico is a strong plus
-
Experience with SPEI rails, IOF mechanics, SAT compliance, or correspondent banking structures is a strong plus
To Thrive in This Role, You Have: What You'll Learn
Genuine fluency in how cross-border trade and freight actually work, not just what the pitch deck says
High agency: when something is unclear or broken in your portfolio, you fix it without waiting for a playbook
A commercial and product mindset in equal measure: you care what closes, and you care what gets built next
What You'll Learn Compensation, Benefits and Perks
How cross-border FX, treasury, and trade-finance infrastructure works end to end, from settlement rails to regulatory mechanics
How to build and pressure-test a commercial playbook in real time, and how client feedback becomes product roadmap
-
What it looks like to build a company's commercial motion from the ground up, with real ownership and real stakes
Compensation, Benefits and Perks
We offer a competitive base salary and a performance-based bonus structure tied to portfolio TPV growth.
