Who We Are
Verkada is transforming how organizations protect their people and places with an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered platform that includes solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management.
We’ve got serious momentum in the market: more than 30,000 customers (including 100+ of the Fortune 500), a $5.8B valuation, more than $1 billion in annualized bookings, and backing from CapitalG, Sequoia Capital, General Catalyst, Felicis Ventures, Next47 and more. Physical AI is one of the most consequential technology shifts of our time, and Verkada is at the center of it.
You can look at all kinds of communities to see our platform’s impact in the world. It's the retailer that uses our agentic AI to deter theft before it happens. The warehouse that uses AI-powered alerts to make sure its team is protected on the floor with proper PPE. The school that’s alerted to a threat in real-time and triggers a lockdown in seconds, not minutes. We’re rapidly scaling this impact: today, more than 2 million Verkada devices are deployed across 170+ countries.
About the Role
We’re looking for a legal operations rockstar to join our fast-growing legal team and serve as the operational and financial backbone of Verkada’s legal function. You'll be joining a team of one, reporting directly to the Head of Legal Operations (a direct report to the General Counsel). Together, you’ll be an army of two owning all aspects of legal operations.
This role is all about building. To start, you will focus on upleveling our legal spend management program: budgeting, forecasting, vendor oversight, and financial operations across the entire Legal organization. At the same time, you'll lean more and more into helping build the engine that keeps the legal team running and modernizing it with AI over time. You will need to be highly organized, analytically sharp, and comfortable owning complex, cross-functional workstreams. Strong accounting, budgeting, and forecasting skills will go a long way here! If you love rolling up your sleeves and building things, this role is for you!
We are an “in the office” company and based in our headquarters in San Mateo, CA.
What You'll Do
- Own the legal spend, top to bottom. Take full ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and planning. Build and maintain dashboards and reporting, manage legal vendors through our billing platform, and drive spend discipline and vendor accountability.
- Partner with Finance. Work closely with Verkada’s Finance team on budgeting cycles and fiscal year planning.
- Build the backbone. Drive a wide variety of initiatives that improve how the legal team functions, including internal and external workflows, record-keeping standards, and file organization systems.
- Automate and modernize. Solve problems by automating manual processes using AI tools, APIs, platform integrations, and process design.
- Support legal functions across the board. Build and refine processes for a variety of legal functions, including litigation, IP management, product, privacy, and employment.
- Own the contracting lifecycle. Take ownership of operational support across the contracting lifecycle, including driving adoption and optimization of our CLM system.
What You Bring
- 3 to 6+ years in legal operations, legal financial management, paralegal work, or a comparable in-house role with ownership of complex workflows.
- Solid experience with budgeting, forecasting, accruals, spend management, vendor oversight, and eBilling platforms, as well as strong spreadsheet skills in Google Sheets or Excel.
- Experience with CLM tools and eDiscovery and legal hold processes.
- A proven ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and move work forward without hand holding, coupled with exceptional attention to detail and follow through.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with our core platforms: Google Workspace, SimpleLegal (preferred), MS 365, Drivetrain, Logikcull, Ironclad, DocuSign, Slack, and Monday.com.
- Comfort thriving in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where the needs and opportunities evolve quickly.
